Moon Princess is a Play’n GO grid slot released on 26 July 2017, styled after Japanese magical-girl anime. Three princesses, Love, Star and Storm, stand beside a 5×5 cascading grid where three or more matching symbols in a straight line pay. Each cascade raises a win multiplier, each princess has an ability that can rescue a losing spin, and free spins start only when the whole grid has been cleared. The same engine was later reused for Rise of Olympus.

This page explains the pay rules, the Girl Power abilities, the Princess Trinity meter, the free spins choice and the RTP. Numbers are taken from the in-game paytable and the official rules: an average RTP of 96.50% and a maximum win of 5,000x the bet. The Moon Princess demo on this page lets you check each feature without a deposit.

How Moon Princess Works

All five rows and five columns are active. A win is three or more identical symbols side by side in a straight line, and one symbol can be part of a horizontal and a vertical win at once. Winning symbols disappear, the remaining ones fall and new symbols drop in from the top. Each new drop in the same spin raises the win multiplier by one step (x1, x2, x3 and so on). In the base game the multiplier returns to x1 when the next spin starts.

Whenever a three-symbol win is removed, the Moon wild appears in its middle position and substitutes for any symbol in later cascades. If only wilds remain on the grid, they are removed as well, which counts towards a full clear.

Pays at a 1.00 bet: five Moons pay 50.00, four 3.00 and three 1.00. Five of one princess pay 10.00 (4 pay 1.00, 3 pay 0.30), and five mixed princesses pay 5.00. The winged bell and the heart pay 3.00 for five, while the moon-star and the green orb pay 2.00. Most single line wins are below the stake, so the multiplier and the features carry most of the value.

Girl Power Abilities

The princess on the right of the grid is the active one. On a non-winning spin, Girl Power can trigger at random and that princess changes the grid. The active princess rotates after each trigger, and the round then continues with normal cascades.

  • Love picks one set of symbols and transforms it into another symbol.
  • Star adds one or two Moon wilds to the grid.
  • Storm destroys two sets of symbols, letting new ones drop in.

Moon Princess Storm Girl Power triggered on a non-winning spin
Moon Princess Love Girl Power transforming symbols

Because Girl Power only fires on spins that would otherwise lose, it lowers the number of empty spins rather than raising the size of wins. The cascades it starts still use the rising multiplier, as in the x3 example below.

Princess Trinity

The meter on the left fills only from winning combinations of princess symbols, with wilds allowed in them: five of a kind fills three sections, four fill two and three fill one. With all three sections full and no more cascades, the game awards one free round. The multiplier resets, and Love, Star and Storm then use their abilities in a fixed order, with the grid cascading after each one. Princess Trinity cannot retrigger itself, and afterwards the previously active princess returns.

Free Spins

Clearing every symbol from the grid starts free spins, and you choose a princess:

PrincessInitial free spinsExtra spins per full meterAbility on every non-winning spin
Love4+4Transforms a symbol set
Star5+3Adds 1 or 2 wilds
Storm8+2Destroys two symbol sets

The selected princess’s ability triggers on every free spin without a win, and the drop multiplier is kept between free spins, up to x20. The round is limited to 20 free spins in total and Princess Trinity is switched off. Clearing the grid during free spins pays an instant 100x the total bet. The game itself describes the choice as “fewer free spins means higher risk, but higher winning potential”.

Which Princess to Pick

All three options share the same multiplier rules and the 20-spin cap, so the choice is about how help is delivered. Storm gives eight spins, the most chances for the multiplier to build, but her ability only removes symbols. Star gives five spins and adds wilds on every losing spin, which directly creates new lines. Love gives four spins and converts a whole symbol set, which can produce several wins at once. A full meter adds +4 spins for Love, +3 for Star and +2 for Storm, so the shorter options recover more spins per recharge. None of the choices changes the RTP.

RTP and Volatility

The official rules give an average RTP of 96.50%. Play’n GO supplies operators with lower RTP versions that play identically, so the RTP line in the casino’s own rules screen is the figure that applies to you. Volatility is not stated in the rules; the game is generally rated high, since a full grid clear is rare and the x20 multiplier in free spins holds much of the potential.

Worked Example: Multiplier in Free Spins

With a A$1 bet, five Storm symbols in a column pay A$10 at x1. In the base game, landing the same win on the third drop of a spin (x3) pays A$30. In free spins the multiplier keeps climbing from spin to spin: if it has reached x15, five mixed princesses (A$5 at x1) pay A$75, and at the x20 cap the same win pays A$100.

Bankroll Tips for Moon Princess

  • Free spins need a full grid clear, which can take several hundred spins. Choose a stake that allows at least 250 spins.
  • Expect many wins smaller than the bet; judge a session by net result.
  • The princess choice in free spins changes the risk profile, not the RTP.
  • Use Auto Play stop settings and your casino’s deposit limits to cap losses.

Demo Play vs Real Money

The demo above is Play’n GO’s official practice version with play credits and the same rules as the real-money game. It is a practical way to see how often Girl Power fires, how fast the Trinity meter fills and how rare a full grid clear is. Clear every symbol from the 5×5 grid. You then choose Love (4 spins), Star (5 spins) or Storm (8 spins).

The paytable states a maximum win of 5,000x the bet.

On a non-winning spin the active princess can act at random: Love transforms a set of symbols, Star adds one or two wilds and Storm destroys two sets of symbols.

The multiplier rises with each drop and is not reset between free spins, up to a maximum of x20.

The mechanics are the same, including the 96.50% RTP and 5,000x maximum, but Moon Princess came first (2017) and has a different theme and symbols.

Responsible Gaming Note

Moon Princess is a game of chance. Only play if you are 18 or older, decide on a budget and a time limit first and stop when either is reached. Gambling Help Online provides free, confidential support 24/7 on 1800 858 858.

Final Verdict

Moon Princess offers a straight-line cascade grid with a per-drop multiplier, three Girl Power abilities that act on losing spins, a Princess Trinity bonus round and free spins with a multiplier that carries over up to x20. The standard RTP is 96.50% and the maximum win is 5,000x. The free spins trigger is infrequent, so test the pacing in the demo and confirm the RTP at your casino first.
