How to Withdraw Casino Winnings to a Bank Account
A casino bank withdrawal has three separate clocks: the casino’s pending period (often 0 to 72 hours), its internal processing (a few hours to several business days), and the bank transfer itself. Offshore casinos pay Australians either through a local payout provider, which typically lands in 1 to 2 business days, or by international wire (SWIFT), which typically takes 3 to 7 business days and can incur intermediary bank fees. Knowing which route your casino uses explains most “where is my money” questions.
For a comparison of payout methods and speeds, see our fast withdrawals guide and the bank transfer payment page.
Before You Request a Withdrawal
- Verification complete. Upload ID, proof of address and payment proof first. See how to verify your account.
- No active bonus. Requesting a withdrawal with a bonus still being wagered usually cancels the bonus and its winnings. Finish or forfeit it first.
- Deposit wagered at least once. Many casinos require deposits to be played through 1x (sometimes 3x) before withdrawal, as an anti-money-laundering rule.
- Check limits. Note the minimum (often A$20 to A$100 for bank transfers) and the daily, weekly or monthly maximum. Our withdrawal limits guide explains how caps affect large wins.
Step-by-Step: Withdrawing to Your Bank
- Open Cashier, then Withdraw. Select “Bank transfer”, “Wire transfer”, “Instant bank” or “PayID” (if offered for payouts).
- Enter your bank details exactly. For local payouts: account name, BSB (6 digits) and account number. For international wire: also your bank’s SWIFT/BIC code (for example, each major Australian bank publishes its own) and sometimes your bank’s address. The account name must match your casino account name.
- Enter the amount. Stay within the per-transaction maximum. If you won more than the limit, the balance will be paid in instalments.
- Confirm with 2FA or email if prompted. Some casinos email a confirmation link that must be clicked within an hour.
- Note the reference and status. Screenshot the request showing the amount, method, date and status (“Pending” or “In review”).
- Do not reverse the request. During the pending period many casinos let you cancel and return the money to your balance. Leaving it alone is the simplest way to avoid gambling it back. Some casinos offer a “flush” or lock option that removes the reverse button; turn it on if available.
- Watch your bank account. After the casino marks the withdrawal as approved or sent, allow 1 to 2 business days for local payouts and 3 to 7 for international wires.

Typical Timeframes and Costs
| Route | Typical time after approval | Costs | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local payout provider (BSB and account number) | Same day to 2 business days | Usually none from your bank | Payer name is the provider, not the casino |
| PayID / NPP payout | Minutes to 1 business day | Usually none | Offered by a minority of casinos |
| International wire (SWIFT) | 3 to 7 business days | Possible intermediary fees, often A$15 to A$50, plus currency conversion | Arrives as a foreign transfer |
These are typical ranges, not guarantees. Weekends and public holidays add time because banks do not process SWIFT transfers on those days.
Tax and Record Keeping
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Australia, according to the ATO; our gambling tax guide covers the exceptions. Keep cashier screenshots and bank statements anyway. Banks may ask about large overseas deposits, and records help if a payment goes missing.
Common Problems and Fixes
Withdrawal stuck in “Pending” for more than 72 hours
Check your email for a document request, then contact support with the withdrawal reference. Ask a direct question: “What is preventing approval and what is the expected date?” If the answer is vague, request the escalation path in writing. Our guide to contacting casino support has a template.
Withdrawal rejected with “details incorrect”
Most often the BSB or account number has a typo, or the account name differs from your casino name (for example a joint account). Re-enter details carefully. If the casino requires a bank statement showing the account, upload a recent PDF statement.
Casino says it was sent but nothing has arrived
Ask for the payment confirmation: date sent, amount, and for wires a SWIFT reference (often called MT103 or UETR). Give that to your bank, which can trace it. For local payouts, check for a credit under an unfamiliar payer name before chasing.
The amount received is lower than requested
Intermediary bank fees and currency conversion are the usual causes on international wires. Compare the amount sent (in the casino’s currency) with the A$ received. Choosing an AUD account currency and a local payout method avoids most of this; see how to change currency.
Casino requires withdrawal to the deposit method
Anti-money-laundering rules mean many casinos pay back to the original method first (a “closed loop”). If you deposited by card or crypto, part of the withdrawal may have to go back the same way before the rest can go to the bank.
The casino delays repeatedly or keeps asking for new documents
After several weeks without a clear reason, document everything and see our guide on filing a complaint about a casino. Offshore casinos are not covered by Australian regulators for individual disputes, so the licensing body and independent mediators are the routes available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Typically 1 to 3 business days for local payouts and 3 to 7 business days for international wires, plus the casino’s own pending and processing time.
Casinos often require the account to be in your name and verified with a statement. Some also apply a closed-loop rule, paying back to the deposit method first.
Many casinos allow cancellation while it is pending. Doing so returns the money to your playable balance, which makes it easy to lose. Leaving it pending is usually the better choice.
Australian banks generally accept incoming transfers. Large or unusual international transfers can prompt a question from the bank, so keep your cashier records.
For recreational players, gambling winnings are generally not taxable according to the ATO. Professional gamblers can be treated differently.
