Money Train 3

Money Train 3 is the third chapter of Relax Gaming’s Money Train series, and it doubled the stakes of the previous game with a maximum win of 100,000x the bet. The gang of bandits is back on the train, the familiar Money Cart Bonus Round is still the centrepiece, and a set of new characters such as the Persistent Shapeshifter, the Absorber and the Tommy Gun makes the bonus more complex and more volatile than before.

This guide explains how the base game and the bonus work, what every new symbol adds, which bonus buy options exist and how the published RTP settings differ. The figures come from Relax Gaming’s official game page and established game databases; always confirm the RTP inside the game at your own casino, because operators can choose different versions.

How Money Train 3 Works

The base game runs on a 5×4 grid with 40 fixed paylines. Card suits make up the low-value symbols and the bandit characters are the premiums, led by the Necromancer, which pays 20x the stake for five on a line. A wild symbol substitutes for all regular pay symbols. Line wins are deliberately modest; most of the game’s return is held back for the bonus round.

To keep the base game moving, Money Train 3 includes a respin feature that can trigger after a non-winning spin. One symbol type is held in place while the other positions respin, giving the spin another chance to form a win. It does not change the overall character of the base game, though: long stretches with small wins are normal while you wait for scatters.

The Money Cart Bonus Round

Three or more bonus scatters start the Money Cart Bonus Round. The grid clears except for the triggering symbols, and you receive 3 respins. Each time at least one new symbol lands, it locks in place and the counter resets to 3. Cash symbols reveal values of 1x to 10x the stake, while special characters modify those values. When the counter reaches zero, everything on the grid is added up and paid.

Returning Characters

  • Collector adds the values of all other symbols to its own.
  • Payer adds its value to every other symbol on the grid.
  • Collector-Payer collects first, then pays the new total out to every other symbol.
  • Sniper doubles the values of several random symbols.
  • Necromancer brings used special symbols back so they activate again.

New Characters in Money Train 3

  • Persistent Shapeshifter stays for the rest of the round and transforms into a different feature on every spin, such as a Collector, Payer or Sniper.
  • Absorber soaks up multiplier values from symbols on the grid and adds them to itself.
  • Tommy Gun is carried by the Payer or the Sniper and targets one symbol type before adding to its value.

Many of these characters also come in persistent versions that activate on every remaining spin. Persistent symbols are what drive the big results: once a Persistent Payer or Persistent Collector-Payer is on the grid, every later spin pushes all values higher. Without them, a bonus round frequently pays far less than 100x the stake.

Bonus Buy Options

Where bonus buying is permitted, Money Train 3 offers four ways in:

  • 1 Spin Bonus: the bonus starts with a single respin and the counter resets to 1.
  • 2 Spin Bonus: the round starts with 2 respins and resets to 2.
  • Regular bonus for 100x the stake with the standard 3 respins.
  • Persistent Bonus for 500x the stake, starting with a guaranteed persistent symbol.

The cheaper short-spin versions give fewer chances to build the grid, while the 500x option is designed for players willing to risk a large amount for a stronger start. Independent databases price the short-spin buys at around 20x and 50x the stake. None of the buys changes the basic fact that bonus results vary enormously, and bonus buys are not available in every country or at every casino.

RTP Versions: Check Before You Play

The top configuration listed for Money Train 3 is 96.10%. Relax Gaming’s own page also names an alternative 94% version, a UK build at 92% and a German build at 90%. The game looks and plays the same in every version, so the RTP line in the in-game information screen is the only reliable way to see which one a casino has installed. Over a long session the difference between 96.10% and 92% is substantial.

Worked Example: A Persistent Payer

Suppose you trigger the bonus at A$0.50 with three cash symbols worth 2x, 3x and 4x. On the first respin a Persistent Payer worth 2x lands. It adds 2x to each symbol straight away, making them 4x, 5x and 6x. Two spins later a new cash symbol worth 1x lands; on that spin the Persistent Payer fires again and adds 2x to all four cash symbols, which become 6x, 7x, 8x and 3x.

If a Collector then lands, it adds those 24x to its own value. When the counter runs out the grid might total around 50x the stake, or A$25. The same round without the persistent symbol would have paid roughly half that, which shows why persistent characters matter more than the starting values.

Bankroll Tips for Money Train 3

  • Plan for at least 250 to 300 spins at your stake; the bonus can take a long time to arrive.
  • Note that the maximum bet is lower than in Money Train 2, but volatility is higher.
  • Treat the 500x Persistent Bonus as an extreme option. One buy at A$1 costs A$500.
  • Set a loss limit and a time limit before playing, and use your casino’s deposit limit tools.
  • Remember that each spin is independent and decided by a certified random number generator.

Demo Play vs Real Money

Relax Gaming makes a free-play version of Money Train 3 available through its demo launcher and partner casinos, although access depends on your location. Demo mode uses the same maths as the real game, so it is a good way to learn what each character does and to see how varied bonus results are. If a run of small bonuses is frustrating with play credits, it will feel worse with real money on the line.

When you do play for real, choose a licensed casino with clear RTP disclosure, verified withdrawals and responsible gambling tools. Our casino reviews can help you compare options.

Frequently Asked Questions

The standard version is listed at 96.10%. Relax Gaming also publishes alternative versions, including 94%, a 92% UK build and a 90% German build, so check the game info at your casino before playing.

The maximum win is 100,000x the stake, twice the ceiling of Money Train 2. It can only be reached through the Money Cart Bonus Round.

There are four where bonus buys are allowed: a 1 Spin Bonus, a 2 Spin Bonus, the regular 100x bonus and a 500x Persistent Bonus that starts with a persistent symbol already on the grid.

It stays on the grid for the rest of the bonus and transforms into a different special feature on every spin, so it can act as a Collector on one spin and a Payer or Sniper on the next.

It is playable for anyone, but it is a high volatility game with many interacting symbols. Beginners usually find it easier to learn the rules in demo mode first and to keep stakes small.

Land 3 or more bonus scatters on the same spin. The Money Cart round starts with 3 respins and the counter resets whenever a new symbol lands.

Responsible Gaming Note

Money Train 3 is entertainment, not a source of income. Only play if you are 18 or older, set a budget and time limit before you start, and stop when you reach them. If gambling stops being fun, free and confidential support is available 24/7 from Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858.

Final Verdict

Money Train 3 takes everything that made the Money Cart bonus popular and adds more characters, more bonus buy choices and a 100,000x ceiling. It is a richer game than Money Train 2, but also a more volatile one, and the gap between an average bonus and a strong one is very wide. Try it in demo mode first, confirm the RTP version at your casino and keep your stake small compared with your budget.
