How to Use a Casino Promo Code

A promo code (also called a bonus code or coupon) is a short string such as WELCOME100 that tells the casino which offer to attach to your account. The code itself is not money. It activates a bonus that carries its own wagering requirement, maximum bet, game restrictions and expiry. The most common reason a code “does not work” is timing: it was entered after the deposit instead of before.

For the different types of codes and how to judge their terms, see our promo codes explainer.

Step-by-Step: Entering a Promo Code

  1. Check the code’s conditions first. Note the minimum deposit (often A$20 to A$30), the match percentage and cap, wagering (for example 40x bonus), maximum bet, eligible games, expiry and any excluded payment methods. Some offers exclude e-wallet or crypto deposits; others exist only for crypto.
  2. Copy the code exactly. Codes are often case-sensitive. Avoid copying trailing spaces, which can make a valid code fail.
  3. Decide where it goes. Welcome codes usually go in the sign-up form or the first deposit screen; reload codes go in the cashier; no-deposit codes in the Bonuses section.
  4. Enter the code and click Apply or Activate. Wait for a confirmation such as “Bonus activated” or a bonus card appearing above the payment methods.
  5. Make the qualifying deposit, if needed. Deposit at least the minimum, using an eligible method, in the same session. See how to deposit with PayID or how to deposit with crypto.
  6. Confirm the bonus is active. Open My Bonuses and check the bonus amount, wagering target and expiry. Screenshot this page.
  7. Play within the rules. Keep bets under the maximum bet and stick to games that count towards wagering. Our guide to clearing a bonus covers the sequence.

A Worked Example

A code offers 100% up to A$300 with 35x wagering on the bonus. You deposit A$100 and receive A$100 bonus. The wagering target is 35 x A$100 = A$3,500 in bets. At a A$1 spin, that is 3,500 spins, roughly five to eight hours of play. If the wagering were on deposit plus bonus, the target would double to A$7,000. Reading which amount the multiple applies to changes the cost of the offer by half.

Where Valid Codes Come From

  • The casino’s own Promotions page. Codes published there are current and their terms are linked directly.
  • Emails and SMS from the casino. These are often personal and tied to your account; they cannot be shared.
  • Review and affiliate sites. Codes can be exclusive to that site’s sign-up link, so register through the same link the code was published with.
  • Social media and forums. Treat these with caution. Expired codes circulate for months, and fake “code generators” are used to collect logins. A real casino never asks for your password to apply a code.

Before relying on any code, compare it with the offer in the casino’s own terms. If the two differ, the casino’s published terms apply.

Should You Use a Code at All?

  • Use it if you planned to play the eligible games for that long anyway and the maximum bet suits your stake.
  • Skip it if you want to withdraw quickly after a win. With an active bonus, a withdrawal request usually cancels the bonus and any winnings from it.
  • Skip it if the code’s terms include a low maximum cash-out on a deposit bonus, or an expiry shorter than the time you need to wager. Our list of bonus red flags covers other traps.

Common Problems and Fixes

“Invalid code” or “Code not found”

Check spelling, case and spaces. Confirm the code is current, since affiliate and email codes often expire within days. Some codes are restricted to new players, certain countries or a certain currency, so an AUD account may not accept a USD-only code.

You deposited and forgot the code

Contact live chat before you place any bet. Many casinos will attach the bonus manually if the deposit balance is untouched. Once you have played with the deposit, most will refuse.

The bonus is credited but smaller than expected

Check the cap (“up to A$300”) and whether the method you used qualifies for the full offer. Some casinos credit a lower percentage for certain payment methods. Ask support to explain the calculation in writing if it does not match the published terms.

You want to cancel a bonus

Go to My Bonuses and choose Cancel or Forfeit, or ask support. Cancelling usually removes the bonus and any winnings made with it; the remaining real-money balance stays. Do this before playing if you changed your mind.

Two codes at once

Most casinos allow only one active bonus. A second code is usually queued until the first is completed or forfeited, or rejected outright.

Casinos with current promotions are listed in our bonus archive. For how these offers compare, read our welcome bonus guide, and see the full set of walkthroughs in the how-to guides. If a bonus never appeared, our no-deposit bonus walkthrough includes more fixes.
