PlayAmo vs BitStarz: Casino Comparison for Australians

PlayAmo (since 2016) and BitStarz (since 2014) are two of the best-known offshore casinos among Australian players. Both accept AUD and crypto, and both exclude NetEnt games for Australians. BitStarz scores 4.6 in our rating, PlayAmo 4.2. The key differences: BitStarz has lower wagering (40x vs 50x), gives crypto depositors its welcome bonus and targets one-hour payouts; PlayAmo publishes higher fixed withdrawal caps in AUD (A$50,000 a month). Bar chart of wagering on a A$100 bonus: PlayAmo 50x needs A$5,000 turnover costing about A$200, BitStarz 40x needs A$4,000 costing about A$160

Welcome Bonuses

The biggest practical difference is the wagering multiple. PlayAmo applies 50x to deposit bonuses and free spin winnings; BitStarz applies 40x.

A$100 bonusPlayAmo (50x)BitStarz (40x)
Turnover requiredA$5,000A$4,000
Expected cost at 96% RTPabout A$200about A$160
Spins needed at A$15,0004,000

Both expected costs exceed the bonus, which means neither welcome offer has positive value for an average player; it extends playing time rather than adding money. The lower multiple at BitStarz loses less.

The second difference is payment method. PlayAmo’s bonus terms exclude cryptocurrency deposits, so a Bitcoin depositor gets no match. BitStarz offers its first-deposit bonus in BTC (up to 1 BTC). If you plan to deposit in crypto, that settles the bonus question.

BitStarz’s first step is also larger: up to A$2,000 matched, versus $1,000 at PlayAmo. PlayAmo’s 100 free spins arrive at 20 per day over five days. Further reading: crypto bonuses and how welcome bonuses work.

When to Decline the Bonus

Declining is often the better choice at both casinos, and the reasoning is arithmetic rather than opinion. A bonus is worth taking when the turnover it demands is close to what you would bet anyway. Suppose you normally deposit A$100 and play about 300 spins at A$1. That is A$300 of turnover. PlayAmo’s bonus would ask for A$5,000 and BitStarz’s for A$4,000, more than ten times your usual session. In that case the bonus locks your balance for days and adds a maximum-bet rule and excluded games, with little chance of completion.

The calculation changes for a high-volume player who already bets several thousand dollars a week: the 40x requirement at BitStarz may be cleared during normal play. At PlayAmo, a cash-only player also avoids the free spin winnings cap and the 50x multiple on spin wins. Our guide to bonus red flags lists the clauses to check.

Banking and Withdrawals

PlayAmo publishes its caps in AUD: A$4,000 a day, A$16,000 a week and A$50,000 a month, and progressive jackpot wins are paid in full outside those limits. Payment options include Apple Pay, Neosurf, Neteller, Skrill, Paysafecard, cards and six cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, BCH, USDT). Its complaint history includes slow withdrawals and repeated verification requests, although most AskGamblers complaints are marked resolved.

BitStarz sets limits per method and may pay large wins in monthly instalments, so read the cashier for your method. Its stated target is to process withdrawals within one hour, and it offers bank transfer, MiFinity, Neteller and Skrill withdrawals alongside crypto. KYC requires ID and a proof of address no older than three months.

Neither charges casino-side fees in the terms we reviewed; crypto network fees still apply. See fast withdrawals and Bitcoin payments.

Games

PlayAmo’s stored provider list includes Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, Hacksaw Gaming, Betsoft, Playtech, Evolution and Ezugi live tables. BitStarz lists Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City and Evolution. PlayAmo blocks three studios for Australians (NetEnt, Microgaming and Amatic); BitStarz blocks NetEnt.

Licensing and Ownership

PlayAmo’s current terms name Saphirix Solutions SRL under Tobique licence No. 0000091 — the same company and licence as 7Bit — and our review notes that licensing details differ between sources. BitStarz publishes its Curaçao licence number (OGL/2024/165/0185) and company registration. Neither regulator offers Australians a local complaints route. See Tobique licence and Curaçao licence, and our BitStarz vs 7Bit comparison for the sister brand.
