Crypto Casino Bonuses Explained
Crypto bonuses are promotions tied to deposits in Bitcoin, USDT and other cryptocurrencies. Some casinos offer a larger match for crypto, some denominate caps in BTC, and some exclude crypto deposits from bonuses entirely. Crypto adds two factors that fiat bonuses do not have: the exchange rate between deposit and withdrawal, and network fees on both legs.
This page explains the structures and the A$ maths. It is part of our bonus guides.

Worked Example: Crypto vs Card at Ignition
A A$400 first deposit at Ignition, considering only the casino half, using the stored terms and assuming the deposit and bonus are split evenly between casino and poker:
| Method | Match | Bonus | Casino half | Wagering on casino half (25x D+B) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto | 150% | A$600 | A$300 bonus on A$200 deposit | 25 x A$500 = A$12,500 |
| Card | 100% | A$400 | A$200 bonus on A$200 deposit | 25 x A$400 = A$10,000 |
The crypto version adds A$100 of casino bonus and A$2,500 of turnover. At 96% RTP the extra expected loss is A$100, which matches the extra bonus. The extra match does not change the value per dollar much; it mainly adds playing time. Note that the casino and poker split and D+B wagering both make the real turnover higher than the headline suggests. Our wagering guide has the formulas.
BTC-Denominated Caps
“Up to 1 BTC” means the cap moves with the Bitcoin price. If 1 BTC is worth A$100,000, a 100% match up to 1 BTC can be claimed on deposits up to that value; if the price halves, so does the cap in A$. For most players the cap is far above their deposit, so the A$ cap (A$2,000 at BitStarz) is the relevant one when depositing in AUD.
Exchange-Rate Risk During Wagering
If your account balance is held in BTC, its A$ value moves while you clear the bonus. Example:
- You deposit 0.01 BTC when 1 BTC = A$100,000 (A$1,000) and receive 0.01 BTC bonus.
- You finish wagering with 0.015 BTC.
- If BTC has fallen 10% to A$90,000, your 0.015 BTC is worth A$1,350 instead of A$1,500.
The reverse is also possible. Stablecoins such as USDT remove most of this risk because they track the US dollar, though the AUD/USD rate still moves. Many casinos let you display or hold balances in a fiat currency even when you deposit crypto; check how your balance is denominated.

Network Fees
Each deposit and withdrawal incurs a network fee set by the blockchain, not the casino. Fees vary with congestion and by network: Bitcoin transfers usually cost more than Litecoin, Tron or Solana transfers. A fee of a few dollars matters on a A$30 bonus deposit. RocketPlay lists crypto withdrawals as free on its side, but network costs still apply when you move funds to an exchange. Our Bitcoin payments and USDT payments pages cover typical costs.
Rakeback: The Common Crypto Promotion
Crypto-focused casinos often replace match bonuses with rakeback, a percentage of the house edge on every bet returned to you, often with no wagering. Example: rakeback of 10% of the house edge on A$10,000 of pokie bets at a 4% edge returns 10% x A$400 = A$40. It is smaller than a match bonus on paper but paid in withdrawable funds. DegenCity combines rakeback with cashback across eight VIP tiers. See cashback and loyalty points.
Provably Fair Games and Bonus Wagering
Crypto casinos often offer in-house dice, crash and mines games with house edges of about 1%. Many casinos weight these at 0%–10% for bonus wagering or exclude them, for the same reason table games are weighted lower. Check the contribution table before using them to clear a bonus. Crypto Bonus Checklist
- Confirm crypto deposits qualify (PlayAmo excludes them).
- Check whether the cap is in BTC, USDT or A$.
- Check the balance currency during wagering.
- Add network fees for the deposit and the eventual withdrawal.
- Note the minimum deposit in crypto, which can differ from the fiat minimum.
- Use the same wallet address network for deposit and withdrawal; sending on the wrong network can lose funds.
Offshore crypto casinos are not licensed in Australia, so there is no local regulator to handle a bonus dispute; keep dated copies of the terms and your transaction IDs. For general crypto casino guidance see our crypto casino tips.
