Ethereum Casino Payments in Australia
Ethereum (ETH) is the second most common coin in offshore casino cashiers. Of the casinos reviewed on BetsAuthority, 35 list ETH for deposits or withdrawals. ETH confirms faster than Bitcoin, but it carries a risk Bitcoin doesn’t: the same wallet address format is used on many other networks, so it is easy to send coins on the wrong chain. This page explains the networks, timings, fees and tax rules that apply when Australians use ETH at a casino.
Casinos That Accept Ethereum
The table lists the highest-rated reviewed casinos that include Ethereum in their payment terms, ordered by our rating. Each of the eight casinos behind this table also lists ETH as a withdrawal method.
Ethereum Mainnet vs Other Networks
An Ethereum address starts with “0x” followed by 40 hexadecimal characters. Exactly the same address format is used by BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and other EVM-compatible networks. Your exchange will accept a casino’s 0x address on any of these networks without warning you. If the casino only watches Ethereum mainnet (ERC-20), coins sent on BNB Smart Chain or Arbitrum arrive at an address it isn’t monitoring.
| Network label in your wallet | What it is | Safe to send to a casino “ETH” address? |
|---|---|---|
| Ethereum / ERC-20 | Ethereum mainnet | Yes, this is the default |
| Arbitrum, Optimism, Base | Layer-2 networks settling to Ethereum | Only if the cashier lists that network |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | Separate chain; “ETH” there is a wrapped token | Only if the cashier lists BEP-20 |
| Polygon | Separate chain | Only if the cashier lists Polygon |
Recovery of coins sent on an unsupported network is at the casino’s discretion. Some will retrieve them for a fee, many won’t. Read the network name in the cashier, then choose the same name on your exchange’s withdrawal screen.

Deposit Steps
- Buy ETH with A$ on an Australian exchange registered with AUSTRAC, or use ETH you already hold in a self-custody wallet.
- In the casino cashier choose Ethereum and copy the 0x deposit address. Note any minimum; a deposit below it may not be credited.
- On the exchange or wallet, paste the address and select the Ethereum (ERC-20) network.
- Check the first and last six characters of the pasted address. Clipboard-hijacking malware replaces copied addresses.
- Send. Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds; casinos typically credit after a set number of confirmations, which usually means 1 to 15 minutes.

ETH or a Stablecoin on Ethereum?
Ethereum also carries tokens such as USDT and USDC. Sending USDT as an ERC-20 token costs more gas than a plain ETH transfer, because a token transfer runs a smart contract, and you must hold some ETH in the wallet to pay that gas. If you want a dollar-stable balance, USDT on a cheaper network such as TRC-20 usually costs less to move. If you already hold ETH and want to avoid a conversion step, depositing ETH directly is simpler.
Buying ETH with Australian Dollars
Australian exchanges that convert A$ to crypto must be registered with AUSTRAC and verify your identity before you trade. Most accept PayID or bank transfer deposits in A$, often free, and charge either a trading fee or a spread built into the quoted price. The total cost of getting ETH into a casino therefore has three parts:
- The exchange’s trading fee or spread when you buy ETH.
- The exchange’s withdrawal fee when you send ETH out, usually a fixed amount of ETH.
- The same costs in reverse when you sell a payout back to A$.
On a small deposit, the fixed withdrawal fee can be a large share of the amount. Compare it with the cost of sending the same value in Litecoin or USDT before you choose a coin. Some exchanges also screen outgoing transfers and may delay or decline payments to addresses linked to gambling services, so allow time for that on the first transfer.
Common ETH Deposit Mistakes
- Sending a token instead of ETH. USDC or USDT sent to an ETH deposit address is a different asset; the casino may not credit it.
- Sending from a smart-contract wallet. Some casino systems don’t detect internal transactions from contract wallets. Use a standard wallet address or an exchange.
- Reusing an expired address. If the cashier generates a fresh address per deposit, use the current one.
Withdrawing ETH
- Verification: complete KYC before your first request. See the KYC document guide.
- Processing: stated crypto times at reviewed casinos range from about an hour (BitStarz target, Wild Tornado 0 to 1 hour) to 48 hours (HellSpin).
- Address: give an Ethereum mainnet address you control. If you paste an exchange address, confirm that exchange accepts ERC-20 ETH deposits.
- Limits: casino caps apply to crypto too; HellSpin and Bizzo publish €4,000 per day. Compare caps on our withdrawal limits page.
Price Risk and Tax
ETH’s A$ price can move several per cent in a day. If the casino keeps your balance in ETH, wins and losses in A$ terms include that movement. Where the cashier offers an AUD or USD balance with conversion on deposit, the price risk ends when the deposit is credited.
The ATO treats crypto as a CGT asset. Selling it, swapping it for another crypto or using it to pay for goods or services is a disposal and a CGT event. Depositing ETH that has risen since purchase can therefore produce a capital gain, and selling a payout is a further disposal. Gambling winnings themselves are generally not assessable for recreational players; our gambling tax page sets out the distinction.
How ETH Compares
| Coin | Casino acceptance (our reviews) | Credit time | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | 35 casinos | 1 to 15 minutes | Wrong EVM network |
| Bitcoin | 41 casinos | 10 to 60 minutes | Fee spikes |
| Litecoin | 34 casinos | A few minutes | Fewer exchanges list it |
| Tether (USDT) | 36 casinos | Seconds to minutes | Choosing the wrong token network |

Frequently Asked Questions
Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds. Casinos credit after their required number of confirmations, which typically takes 1 to 15 minutes.
Only if the cashier lists that network. The 0x address format is shared across EVM networks, so your exchange will let you send, but a casino that only monitors Ethereum mainnet won’t see the coins and may not recover them.
A plain ETH transfer uses 21,000 gas. Its A$ cost ranges from cents to several dollars depending on network demand. ERC-20 token transfers such as USDT use more gas, and exchanges usually charge their own flat withdrawal fee.
The ATO treats using crypto to pay for goods or services, selling it or swapping it as a disposal for CGT purposes. If your ETH has risen in value since you bought it, depositing it may create a capital gain. Seek tax advice for significant amounts.
Most casinos that accept ETH deposits also pay out in ETH. Stated processing times at casinos we review range from about an hour to 48 hours after approval, plus a few minutes on the network.
