Money Train 4

Money Train 4 is billed by Relax Gaming as the final ride of its famous series, and it goes out with the biggest numbers yet: more than 20 bonus features and a maximum win of 150,000x the stake. The game moves away from the 40-line layout of earlier titles to a scatter-pays grid, adds a base game respin mechanic and introduces new bonus characters such as the Arms Dealer, the Upgrader and the Unlocker.

Below you will find how the base game pays, how the Money Cart Bonus Round grows, what the new symbols do and which bonus buys and RTP versions exist. Figures are based on Relax Gaming’s official game page and independent game databases; because operators can choose different configurations, always confirm the RTP inside the game at your casino.

How Money Train 4 Works

Instead of paylines, Money Train 4 uses scatter pays. After each spin the game counts identical symbols anywhere on the grid, and a win needs at least 8 matching premium symbols or 10 matching low-value symbols. The more matching symbols, the higher the pay. The top symbol is the Necromancer, followed by the other bandits, with card suits as the low pays.

The base game also has a respin feature that can activate at the end of any spin. The most common symbol on the grid is frozen in place and the remaining positions respin. Respins continue as long as you add to the win or land multiplier symbols. Multipliers that land are not sticky, but their values are added up and applied to the total win at the end of the sequence. This gives the base game more action than previous instalments, although most of the value still sits in the bonus.

The Money Cart Bonus Round

Three or more bonus scatters trigger the Money Cart Bonus Round. It begins on a 6×4 grid with 3 respins, and the counter resets whenever at least one new non-blank symbol lands. Any persistent symbols among the triggering scatters are active from the first spin. Locked rows sit above and below the starting grid: filling a row with symbols unlocks more space, two rows at the top and two at the bottom, so the grid can grow considerably during a strong round.

Cash symbols reveal values of 1x to 10x the stake. The special characters then collect, pay and multiply those values. When the counter runs out, all values on the grid are added together and paid as one win.

New Characters

  • Arms Dealer transforms 1 to 4 cash symbols into special symbols, which then trigger their own features. A persistent version repeats this on every spin.
  • Upgrader turns 1 to 3 regular special symbols into their persistent versions.
  • Unlocker opens a locked row without needing to fill it.
  • Reset Plus raises the number of respins the counter resets to.

Returning Characters

  • Collector and Adjacent Collector add up values, either from the whole grid or from neighbouring positions.
  • Payer and Adjacent Payer add their values to other symbols.
  • Sniper multiplies 3 to 8 symbol values by 2x.
  • Collector-Payer collects and then pays out to several symbols.
  • Necromancer revives used special symbols so they fire again.
  • Persistent Shapeshifter becomes a different feature, such as a Collector, Payer, Sniper or Arms Dealer, on each following spin.

Bonus Buy

Where permitted, the bonus can be bought in two ways: the regular Money Cart Bonus Round for 100x the stake, or a version that starts with one persistent symbol for 500x the stake. The second option gives a stronger start but costs five times as much. Bonus buys are not offered in every country or at every casino, and they do not reduce the volatility of the round.

RTP Versions: Check Before You Play

The highest configuration listed for Money Train 4 is 96.10%. Relax Gaming also lists a UK game ID with a 92% return, and operators can select other lower settings. Every version looks the same, so open the game rules inside the casino and read the RTP line before you commit real money. A gap of four percentage points is significant over a long session.

Worked Example: Unlocking the Grid

Imagine you start the bonus at A$0.50 with four cash symbols totalling 12x. Over several respins more cash symbols land and fill the bottom row of the 6×4 grid, which unlocks an extra row and adds six new positions. An Upgrader then lands and turns a regular Payer into a Persistent Payer, which now adds its value to every symbol on every later spin.

If an Arms Dealer later converts two cash symbols into a Collector and a Sniper, the Sniper can double several of the boosted values before the Collector adds them all up. A round like that might finish well above 100x the stake, while a round with no persistent symbols might end at 20x to 40x. The range of outcomes is very wide.

Bankroll Tips for Money Train 4

  • Use a small stake; the maximum bet is only 6 per spin for good reason given the volatility.
  • Expect long gaps between bonus rounds and plan for at least 250 to 300 spins.
  • Avoid repeated 500x buys unless the amount is a small share of your total budget.
  • Set loss and time limits before you start and use your casino’s deposit limit tools.
  • Keep in mind that every spin is independent and decided by a certified random number generator.

Pros and Cons of Money Train 4

ProsCons
150,000x maximum winExtremely high volatility
More than 20 bonus featuresMany interacting rules to learn
Base game respin feature with multipliersLower RTP versions exist
Expanding bonus grid with unlockable rowsLow maximum bet of 6 per spin
Two bonus buy options where permitted500x buy is very expensive

How It Compares With Earlier Money Train Games

Money Train 2 and Money Train 3 both use a 5×4 reel set with 40 fixed lines and cap wins at 50,000x and 100,000x respectively. Money Train 4 switches to scatter pays, lowers the maximum bet and raises the ceiling to 150,000x. If you enjoyed the earlier bonus rounds but found the base games slow, the respin feature here is the most noticeable improvement; if you prefer simpler rules, Money Train 2 is easier to follow.

Demo Play vs Real Money

A free-play version of Money Train 4 is provided by Relax Gaming through its demo launcher and partner casinos, although availability depends on your location. The demo uses the same maths as the real game and is the easiest way to learn how the many characters interact. Playing a few bonus rounds in demo mode also shows how differently they can end, which is worth knowing before spending real money.

Frequently Asked Questions

The top version is listed at 96.10%. Relax Gaming also has a UK build with a 92% return, and operators can choose lower settings, so check the game rules at your casino.

Money Train 4 has a maximum win of 150,000x the stake, the highest in the series. It is reached through the Money Cart Bonus Round.

It uses scatter pays rather than paylines. Wins are formed by landing enough matching symbols anywhere on the grid, from 8 matching symbols for the top premiums.

The Arms Dealer turns some of the cash symbols on the grid into special symbols, which then activate their own features. A persistent version does this on every remaining spin.

Where bonus buys are allowed there are two options: the regular Money Cart Bonus Round for 100x the stake and a version that starts with one persistent symbol for 500x the stake.

The base game is built around scatter pays and the respin feature rather than a classic wild. The value in the game comes mainly from the bonus round characters.

Responsible Gaming Note

Money Train 4 is designed for entertainment, not as a way to make money. Only play if you are 18 or older, set limits before you start and stop when you reach them. Final Verdict

Money Train 4 is the most ambitious game in the series, with a livelier base game, a bonus grid that grows row by row and a 150,000x ceiling. It is also the most demanding: the rules take time to learn and the swings are extreme. It suits experienced players who enjoy complex bonus rounds and accept long dry spells. Check the RTP version first and keep stakes modest.
