Vikings Go Berzerk
Vikings Go Berzerk is Yggdrasil’s 2016 sequel to Vikings Go Wild. Four Viking crew members share a longship with the reels, a 5×4 grid with 25 fixed paylines. Every Viking win fills that Viking’s personal rage meter, and a full meter starts free spins with that Viking in Berzerk mode. In free spins, every Viking that lands fights a Siren and, if it wins, becomes a sticky wild for the rest of the round. Treasure chests on reels 4 and 5 add instant prizes, extra free spins and other bonuses.
The game rules state a 96.1% RTP, and Yggdrasil rates the volatility as medium-high. This review covers the paytable, how rage is counted, the three ways into free spins, the five pre-spin bonuses and what Yggdrasil’s demo shows. We are not embedding the demo on this page because its availability from Australia is not confirmed.

How Vikings Go Berzerk Works
The bet is one coin per line, so a spin always costs 25 coins and the coin value sets the stake: €0.01 per coin gives a €0.25 spin, €5 per coin gives €125. Wins pay left to right from reel 1, three of a kind is the minimum, and only the highest win per line is paid. The wild substitutes for every symbol except free spin symbols and treasure chests.
Paytable values in coins (multiply by the coin value): the red-shirted Viking pays 30, 100 and 250 for three, four and five; the purple one-eyed Viking 30, 100 and 200; the green elder 25, 75 and 175; the blonde shield-maiden 20, 75 and 150. The coins are lower: gold 6, 30 and 70; silver 6, 30 and 60; bronze 5, 25 and 50; iron 5, 25 and 40. Five red Vikings on one line therefore pay 10x the total bet.

Rage Meters and Berzerk Mode
Below the reels each Viking has a circular rage meter. Every base game win with that Viking adds points: 4 for three of a kind, 12 for four and 36 for five. A meter holds 700 points. When it is full, the game awards 7 free spins with that Viking in Berzerk mode, meaning it always defeats the Siren and becomes a sticky wild whenever it lands. No additional pre-spin bonus is drawn for a rage-triggered round.

The coin value of a rage-triggered round is the average of the coin values at which the rage was collected. If half the points came at 0.20 and half at 2.00, the free spins play at 1.10. Raising the stake just before a meter fills does not raise the value of that round in full. On a first visit one Viking starts with its meter more than half full (“welcome rage”).
Treasure Chests
Two chest symbols can land in the base game. The regular treasure chest appears only on reel 4 and opens a pick of five prizes: a coin win of 50 to 1,000 coins (2x to 40x the bet) or 7, 14 or 21 free spins. The golden treasure chest appears only on reel 5: 250 to 10,000 coins (10x to 400x the bet), 7 to 21 free spins, Ragnarök Free Spins or a Rage Boost that adds 25% to every Viking’s meter.

In free spins the chests award extra spins (2 to 4), coin wins, extra sticky wilds or a wild reel instead. A chest landing on a sticky wild position keeps both active for that spin.
Free Spins and the Siren Fights
Three, four or five Siren free spin symbols award 7, 14 or 21 free spins. During the round all wilds are sticky. Whenever a Viking lands, it fights the Siren before the spin is paid; if it wins, it turns into a sticky wild until the round ends. Berzerk Vikings always win. The rules state that free spins cannot be retriggered by symbols, although chests can add 2 to 4 spins.

Before a scatter-triggered round starts, one of five bonuses is drawn: Ragnarök Free Spins (all four Vikings Berzerk), a starting wild in a random position, a sticky wild reel on a random reel, 1 to 3 extra free spins, or 5 extra treasure chests and 5 golden chests added to the reels.

Our test round drew the Wild Reel bonus on reel 3. With that reel fixed and further wilds sticking on reels 2 and 1, the seven spins returned €9.15 at a €0.25 stake, about 37x the bet. Ragnarök rounds have the highest potential, since every Viking that lands becomes a sticky wild.

RTP and Volatility
The game rules list an overall theoretical RTP of 96.1% (rules version 2.71, dated 29/09/2023). There is no bonus buy, so all play uses the same configuration. If your casino’s game info shows a different RTP, that figure applies.

Yggdrasil rates volatility as medium-high. The rage system adds a predictable element: each Viking win moves you closer to a guaranteed 7-spin round, which smooths some of the gaps between scatter triggers.
Worked Example: Rage Progress
A Viking’s meter needs 700 points. Three-of-a-kind wins add 4, so 175 of them would fill it on their own; a single five-of-a-kind adds 36, the same as nine three-of-a-kinds. In practice a meter fills from a mix of small and medium wins over many sessions. If you played 60% of those points at A$0.25 per spin (coin 0.01) and 40% at A$2.50 (coin 0.10), the rage round would play at a coin value of 0.046, or about A$1.15 per spin.
Bankroll Tips for Vikings Go Berzerk
- Keep a steady stake; rage rounds pay at your average coin value, so stake jumps have limited effect.
- Rage is saved per casino account, so meters started at one casino do not carry to another.
- Budget for at least 250 spins; scatter-triggered free spins can take several hundred spins.
- Treasure chests pay most of their value in the base game as small coin wins.
- Set deposit, loss and time limits before you start.

Demo Play vs Real Money
Yggdrasil offers a fun-money demo of Vikings Go Berzerk on its own website, which we used for the screenshots in this review. It has the same rules, chests and free spins bonuses as the real game, though demo rage meters are not linked to a casino account. Availability can vary by region. Real-money stake limits are set by each casino.
For real-money play, choose a casino that shows the RTP in the game info, pays verified withdrawals promptly and offers deposit limits and time-outs. Our casino reviews compare these points.

Final Verdict
Vikings Go Berzerk combines a 96.1% RTP with a layered feature set: rage meters that build toward guaranteed free spins, Siren fights that turn Vikings into sticky wilds, and two chest types worth up to 400x the bet. The lack of scatter retriggers and the short 7-spin rage rounds keep results moderate in most sessions. Check the RTP at your casino, keep stakes steady and set limits before you play.
