Sakura Fortune

Play for real

Sakura Fortune is a 2017 Quickspin slot about a Japanese princess fighting a pair of evil emperors. It runs on 5 reels with 4 rows and 40 fixed bet lines, and nearly every feature revolves around one symbol: the Princess Wild, a 4×1 stacked wild that lands on reels 2, 3 and 4. Two full stacks trigger the Sakura Fortune Respin, and in free spins every Princess that lands expands and stays for the rest of the round. Quickspin describes the game as extremely volatile and supplies it in 90% and 96% RTP models; the official demo shows 96.58%.

The figures on this page come from the paytable and rules screens of Quickspin’s official demo. We cover the paytable, the wild mechanics, the respin and free spins rules, RTP versions and session planning.

How Sakura Fortune Works

Wins pay along 40 fixed lines from the leftmost reel to the right, and only the highest win per line is paid. The paytable has nine regular symbols. At a 1.00 bet, five of the highest symbol pay 10.00, the next pays 5.00 and the third 3.00, while the remaining six symbols pay between 1.00 and 2.00 for five. The symbol set combines character portraits (a princess, a samurai and two emperors) with jade lions, golden dragons and Chinese coins in three metals.

Line wins on their own are small relative to the bet, which is why the game’s volatility comes almost entirely from the wild features described below.

Princess Wild and Mystery Nudge

The Princess Wild is a single symbol four positions tall. It appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4, in both the base game and free spins, and substitutes for all symbols. A Princess Wild does not always land fully on screen. The Mystery Nudge can correct this: any time two or more Princess Wilds land, there is a chance they nudge into full stacks.

Sakura Fortune Respin

Two full stacks of the Princess Wild trigger the Sakura Fortune Respin. In the demo the stacked wilds remained on their reels during the respins, and the number of respins equals the number of wilds on the reels when the feature starts – 2 full stacks give 2 respins. Each new wild that lands adds respins, and the feature ends when a respin brings no new wild. Free spins can also be triggered during the feature.

With two of the three middle reels fully wild, a line win only needs matching symbols on the other reels in the sequence from reel 1, so most respins pay. In our demo session, one respin sequence with two stacked wilds had reached 27.05x the bet by its second respin, against line wins of 0.50x to 3x in ordinary spins.

Free Spins

Free spins require 3 or more consecutive Bonus Scatter symbols starting from the leftmost reel in a single spin. Scatters appear only in the base game, on all reels. The requirement that they connect from reel 1 makes the trigger rare: in our demo run it took 721 spins to land.

Sakura Fortune free spins starting after bonus scatters

During free spins, any Princess Wild that lands expands to cover the full reel, stays in place for the rest of the round and awards 1 extra free spin. Because the wild can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, a round can hold at most three expanded wilds. The rules state that free spins cannot be retriggered by scatters; the only extensions come from new wilds. Our demo round started with 7 spins on the counter and paid 3.60x the bet, which shows how much the round depends on wilds landing early.

RTP Versions: 90% or 96%

Quickspin’s game page lists two RTP models, 90% and 96%. The official demo runs the higher model and its rules show a theoretical payout of 96.58%. A difference of more than six percentage points has a large effect over a long session, even though the game looks and plays the same. Open the rules at your casino and read the payout line before you play.

Worked Example: Expanded Wilds in Free Spins

Suppose a Princess Wild expands on reel 3 on the first free spin. From then on, every line passes through a wild on reel 3, so a line win needs only matching symbols on reels 1 and 2 to pay for three of a kind. If a second wild expands on reel 2, any symbol on reel 1 that matches reel 4 completes four of a kind across many of the 40 lines. Each expansion also adds 1 spin, so early wilds both raise the value of each spin and lengthen the round.

Bankroll Tips for Sakura Fortune

  • Check the RTP model first: 90% and 96% versions look identical.
  • Plan for long sessions between features; free spins in our run took 721 spins.
  • Keep stakes at or below 0.5% of the session budget given the extremely volatile rating.
  • Do not raise the bet after near misses with one stacked wild; the next spin is independent.
  • Set a loss limit and time limit and use your casino’s deposit tools.

What Our Demo Session Showed

Over roughly 720 base game spins at a 1.00 bet in the official demo, the pattern matched the “extremely volatile” label. Most spins paid nothing or a line win below the stake. Single Princess Wilds appeared regularly, two wilds on screen at once were far less common, and the respin feature with two full stacks produced the session’s notable wins. The free spins arrived once, on spin 721. A sample of this size says nothing about long-term return, but it shows how the game distributes its value: in rare wild-driven events rather than steady line wins.

Sakura Fortune Follow-Ups

Quickspin has returned to the theme with later titles, including Sakura Fortune 2 and Sakura Fortune Epic Bloom, which is currently featured on its website. The follow-ups use different mechanics, RTPs and maximum wins, so check each game’s own rules rather than assuming they match the original.

Responsible Gaming Note

Sakura Fortune is entertainment with a cost, and its volatility means losses can build quickly between features. Only play if you are 18 or older, set a budget and a time limit before you start and stop when you reach them. Free and confidential support is available 24/7 from Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858.

Final Verdict

Sakura Fortune concentrates its value in the 4×1 Princess Wild: two full stacks trigger respins in the base game, and in free spins each wild expands, stays and adds a spin. The trade-offs are a rare free spins trigger, no scatter retriggers and a 90% RTP model in circulation. If your casino runs the 96% model, the respin feature gives the base game more structure than most 40-line slots.
